A Women-Led National Civil Society Organization Advancing Inclusive Development and Peace
Who We Are
Established in 2020 and headquartered in Addis Ababa, the Dr. Ambachew Mekonnen Foundation works with women, youth, and underserved communities to expand opportunity, strengthen education, promote social justice, and build resilient and peaceful societies

Work with people and communities together with the natural environment to contribute to the creation of enduring solution to existing challenges for peaceful co-existence and just society by advancing education, research, livelihood resilience and natural balance

Flow to Grow: Boosting School Girls Confidence
- 15 Schools in Addis Ababa

An 18-month initiative supported by the USAID/READ II project designed to remove menstrual hygiene barriers and build school confidence for young girls
- Expanded from 5 to 15 participating schools
- Collaboration with USAID/READ II for essential resources
- Donation of "How an Airplane Flies" to promote summer reading habits
- Focused on menstrual hygiene awareness and academic commitment
Successfully reached 900 female students, significantly improving school retention and academic focus across 15 communities
Empowerment and Economic Justice for Rural Women
- Tach Gaint Woreda, South Gondar

- 5-round intensive business development program
- Provision of essential assets to grow small local businesses
- Supporting 260 rural women in five distinct cohorts
Equipping 260 women with professional entrepreneurship skills, serving as a prerequisite for sustainable business growth and long-term community resilience
6th Year Memorial: Honoring the Past; Planting the Future
