We organize activities that target Community Development Work
July, 2019
In 2019, we joined the national green development initiative by planting trees around Yeka Subcity in Addis Ababa. Nearly 20 people participated in this effort, which was a way to honor the memory of Dr. Ambachew Mekonnen, ensuring that his legacy of environmental responsibility and commitment to the community would endure. Even before the official establishment of our foundation, we took this step to recognize Dr. Ambachew Mekonnen’s vision and values.
June, 2020
Before the official establishment of the Ambachew Mekonnen Foundation (AMF), Dr. Ambachew Mekonnen’s daughter, now the Executive Director of the AMF, organized a 1-year memorial ceremony in June 2020. The event, held in collaboration with the KDI School of Public Policy and Management at KDI School in South Korea, took place during her time pursuing a Master of Development Policy (MDP). The ceremony engaged 30 participants from diverse backgrounds.

Dr. Ambachew Mekonnen Foundation (AMF) organized impactful blood donation initiatives in collaboration with the National Blood Bank Services Office of Ethiopia aiming to strengthen national blood supply and promote a culture of giving within the community. This Initiative engaged 300 participants, with 100 individuals donating blood to support the cause. It was held under the theme “ደም ከማፍሰስ፤ ደም መለገስ”, meaning “Instead of Shedding Blood, Donate Blood.”

Dr. Ambachew Mekonnen Foundation (AMF) organized impactful blood donation initiatives in collaboration with the National Blood Bank Services Office of Ethiopia. These initiatives aimed to support the national blood supply and foster a spirit of
giving within our community. In 2022: The initiative engaged 200 people, with 100 individuals donating blood, environmental responsibility and commitment to the community would endure. We made a meaningful impact by encouraging blood donations that help save lives.

Dr. Ambachew Mekonnen High School and Preparatory School hosted a special Award Program to celebrate the outstanding achievements of 36 high-performing students in Physics, Mathematics, and Economics. This event aimed to inspire excellence and foster a culture of academic achievement within our school community. The awardees were selected for their exceptional performance in both Natural Science and Social Science streams across various grade levels. We are proud of these students hard work and dedication.

The Ambachew Mekonnen Foundation (AMF) organized an annual memorial and peace-building event at the ADWA 00 KM Museum, engaging 300 participants from various backgrounds. This event served as a platform for awareness creation and promoting peace within the community. Featuring insightful speakers and experts, the event highlighted key issues and fostered dialogue on building a peaceful society. We aimed to raise awareness and build capacity for peace-building efforts, fostering meaningful discussions.
